Project description: The Project’s objective is to perform study, design, and preparatory works required in order to build the high speed railway line Warsaw – (CMK) – Kraków/Katowice in the planning period 2014 – 2020 from the Cohesion Fund subsidy, and in the later period to extend the line in the area of Tatra and Beskidy mountains, as well as a Feasibility Study and Pre-design documentation for modernisation of railway lines entering into the Corridor no. VI TEN-T, from Katowice into Slovakia via a border crossing point in Zwardoń – Skalite and from Katowice to the Czech Republic via the border crossing point in Zebrzydowice – Petrovice u Karvine, envisaged to be performed in the planning period 2007-2013. It is expected that as a result of the E 65 railway line – South modernisation, CMK shall reach the high speed railway line standards.

The designed modernisation of E 65 line constitutes one of the tasks of a comprehensive railway line modernisation in Poland, performed since the year 1993 with the assistance of PHARE, ISPA, FS, EFRR, and TEN-T funds.

The direct Contract objectives are as follows:

  • optional elaboration regarding the modernisation of E65 railway line – South, section Grodzisk Mazowiecki-Włoszczowa/Psary - Zawiercie - Katowice – Zwardoń/Zebrzydowice – national border with a branch off to Cracow and selecting the most beneficial railway line modernisation option
  • elaboration of spatial and technical solutions allowing to elaborate the material scope for modernisation/construction of the option selected and estimating financial outlays to complete the undertaking

The entire project constitutes of 12 stages:

Inventory and assessment of the condition of the railway line infrastructure
Stage II
Options of the undertaking in respect of the railway line route survey. Technical analyses for specific options
Stage III
Undertaking’s marketing analyses regarding specific railway line modernisation options
Stage IV
Environmental impact assessment analysis subject to the railway line’s modernisation option; i.e. environment analysis
Stage V
CBA analysis subject to the railway line’s modernisation/construction option and selecting the most beneficial option
Stage VI
Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the option selected
Stage VII
Pre-design land survey and conceptual-spatial documentation for the undertaking. Geology and geotechnical surveys
