Modernisation of road and railway infrastructure in Gdański Port

Project description: The project includes preparation of the following documentation:
  1. Comprehensive programme and spatial concept - update
  2. Comprehensive Feasibility Study for the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment, covering the following investment tasks:
    • Modernisation of the intra-port road and railway infrastructure in the area of Basen Górniczy
    • Improvement of the access to Nabrzeże Przemysłowe – Stage II
    • Construction of the road viaduct along Portowa Street in the North Harbour

The project realisation is co-financed from the European Union Cohesion Fund. The project is eligible to the Priority Axis VII – “Environmentally friendly transport”, Action 7.2 – “Sea transport development” and holds the status of a Standby Project on “The list of Individual Projects for the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2007-2013”.

The project aims at ensuring a direct access between the port areas and the national roads network by using opportunities occurring after completion of another OPIE Project – “Trasa Sucharskiego”. This will allow a clash-free redirection of the heavy traffic generated by the port, outside the system, bypassing the city centre, and obtaining an appropriate road access to the port areas and quays.

The planned investments will take the role of communication links enabling a direct connection of the whole eastern part of the port with the national road network via the designed “Trasa Sucharskiego” and Gdańsk Southern Bypass to A1 motorway and national road no. 7. After completion of the tunnel crossing this connection will be available at the whole area of the Gdański Port.
